Cry Translator Baby Assistant alternative: an on-device option that promises no percentage
People searching for a Cry Translator Baby Assistant alternative usually stop at two things: the website's “up to 96.36%” claim carries a footnote saying it was validated by internal tests, and recordings are processed on the developer's side rather than on the phone. Otherwise the app, branded AYA, is the highest-rated all-in-one in this comparison, with 4.73 on the US App Store, 4.4 on Google Play, 48 languages including Turkish and an AI chat helper. This page first explains what it does, with sources, then why people look elsewhere, then where Agubu differs.
In plain words: Agubu is our app. About AYA we write only what we read on the App Store, Google Play and cryanalyzer.com on 29 September 2026; ratings come from the iTunes Lookup API. We also say from the start that no app, ours included, can reliably read the reason for a cry from the sound.
Disclosure: we make Agubu. Every fact about a competitor is sourced; ratings come from store data and change over time.

What Cry Translator Baby Assistant does
The app is listed under three names: Cry Translator Baby Assistant in the US App Store, AYA Cry Analyzer AI Assistant in Turkey, and Cry Analyzer AI Baby Assistant on Google Play; the App Store seller is Digital Enter, the Play developer name is “Digital HealthCare”, and the brand is “AYA”. It runs on iOS and Android in 48 interface languages including Turkish. According to the website it records 5 seconds and shows possible needs as percentages: hunger, sleepiness, discomfort or a need for attention. Alongside it bundles an “AI Helper” chat for parenting questions, white noise and lullabies, a feeding, diaper and pumping tracker, growth and milestone tracking and articles (App Store and Play descriptions).
Its standouts: the best ratings among analyzers with meaningful volume, US App Store 4.73 (612), Google Play 4.4 (about 3,730), 100K+ Play downloads; the iOS app was updated on 24 September 2026. Price: at the time of checking the App Store listed weekly plans of $5.99 to $8.99, one month at $14.99, 3 months at $24.99, 6 months at $14.99 to $34.99 and one year at $59.99; the Play listing shows “in-app purchases” and “contains ads” badges; the website offers a free trial. The developer's claim, in its own words: “Up to 96.36% accuracy. Based on 15,000+ records”, with the footnote “Accuracy of up to 96% is validated by internal tests and analysis of over 10,000 infant crying sounds as of January 2024” (cryanalyzer.com).
Why people look for an alternative
Only reasons the store listings and the developer's own site support:
- The percentage rests on internal tests. The website's own footnote says so; there is no independent verification. The research shows that the sound of a cry does not reliably carry the reason; how high percentages can arise is explained on our Methodology page.
- Recordings are not processed on the device. The listing says “All recordings are securely processed”, meaning your baby's voice goes to the developer's side.
- Ads on Android. The Play listing carries a “contains ads” badge.
- Many weekly subscriptions. Several options between $5.99 and $8.99 a week at the time of checking; the yearly total of a weekly plan is worth checking.
- An out-of-date website. The site says Android support is “coming very soon” although the Play listing has 100K+ downloads.
- A category contradiction. Listed under Medical on the App Store while the description says, in capitals, that it is not intended for medical use.
There are reasons to stay too
High ratings, 48 languages, the AI chat helper, pumping logs and growth and milestone tracking are reasons to stay. Agubu has no AI chat, pumping, growth or milestone tracking; we say so plainly below.
How Agubu differs
Agubu promises no percentage; it does the opposite. We measured on our own data that the reason cannot be reliably read from the sound, published the numbers, mistakes included, on the Methodology page, and built the app accordingly. The microphone listens for 8 seconds; the on-device model checks that the sound is a cry and that the recording is usable, and rejects silent or noisy clips. Likely reasons are ranked from context: time since the last feed, time awake, last diaper, age and time of day. There are three confidence tiers, it says when it is unsure, and a “what did this result look at?” panel shows what it was based on.
Where the sound goes: nowhere. Audio stays in memory, is never written to disk and is deleted when analysis ends; no internet needed. No account, server, ads or analytics, the same on iOS and Android. The free tier is permanent and committed to in our terms: 3 analyses a day with the full result, unlimited logging (sleep, nursing, bottle, diaper), the last 7 days of history, 8 soothing sounds with a timer, safety content. Premium unlocks unlimited analyses, 8 more sounds, the 4-layer mixer, unlimited history and the 30-day doctor report. There is no weekly plan, only monthly and yearly. Turkish and English; iPhone (iOS 15.0 or later) and Android.
What Agubu does not have: AI chat, pumping logs, growth and milestone tracking, 48 languages, multi-baby profiles, caregiver sharing. For guidance it has 10 sourced articles, not a chat. We launched on 31 August 2026 and have no ratings yet. Details: cry analysis and privacy.
Other options
Nanni AI
Ubenwa's app for iOS, Android and Apple Watch; it cites a clinical research background and bundles nap prediction and a milestone log. US App Store 4.70 (339), Google Play 3.6 (about 1,170); English only; use of the app feeds the company's research. Details: Nanni AI alternative.
Cry Analyzer (First Ascent)
The most widely used app in the category, 5M+ downloads on Google Play, 16 languages including Turkish; percentages from a 5-second clip, no context; free with ads. Google Play 3.0 (about 4,960). The developer states “over 80%”. Details: Cry Analyzer alternative.
BabyLingo
8 languages including Turkish; from 5 to 10 seconds it shows the most likely reason with soothing tips, plus rain, ocean, white noise and lullabies. The developer calls it “a parenting and entertainment support tool”; no care log; $6.59 a week at the time of checking. Turkish App Store 4.12 (95).
Switching
Your feeding, diaper and pumping records in AYA do not carry over to Agubu; Agubu has no feature for importing data from other apps. Logging starts fresh: four log types with one tap, the age-based wake window from day one. Pumping, growth and milestone logs do not exist in Agubu; if you want to keep them, you will need to keep AYA or another app alongside.
What you gain: on-device and ad-free analysis, context and confidence tiers, an honest result with no percentage promise, a permanent free tier and no weekly subscription. Your records stay on the phone; you can delete everything under Settings → Your data. The only thing that leaves the phone is the 30-day doctor-report PDF in Premium.
Frequently asked questions
Is Cry Translator Baby Assistant free?
The website mentions a trial offer; the App Store page listed purchases from $5.99 a week to $59.99 a year at the time of checking, and the Play listing carries a “contains ads” badge. We could not confirm the exact free limit from the official pages.
Is AYA really “96.36% accurate”, as its website says?
That is the developer's own statement, and the footnote on its site says the figure comes from internal tests; there is no independent verification. The 2023 Communications Psychology study and our own measurement show that the sound of a cry does not reliably carry the reason.
Does AYA send my recording to the cloud?
The listing says recordings are “securely processed”, which means processing happens on the developer's side, not on the device. In Agubu the audio never leaves the phone, is never written to disk and is deleted when analysis ends.
Are Cry Translator Baby Assistant and AYA the same app?
Yes. The same App Store listing appears as Cry Translator Baby Assistant in the US and AYA Cry Analyzer AI Assistant in Turkey, and the Google Play listing, Cry Analyzer AI Baby Assistant, links to the same website.
