Nanni AI alternative: on-device, in your language, and honest when unsure

Anyone searching for a Nanni AI alternative faces an interesting picture: an app rated 4.70 on the US App Store, running on Apple Watch and citing a clinical research background, yet English only, rated 3.6 on Google Play, with an iOS version not updated for over a year. This page first explains what Nanni AI does, with sources, then why people look for something else, then where Agubu differs.

In plain words: Agubu is our app. About Nanni AI we write only what we read on the App Store, Google Play, nanni.ai and ubenwa.ai on 29 September 2026; ratings come from the iTunes Lookup API. We also say from the start that no app, ours included, can reliably read the reason for a cry from the sound.

Disclosure: we make Agubu. Every fact about a competitor is sourced; ratings come from store data and change over time.

What Nanni AI does

Nanni AI (Nanni AI: Your Baby Translator on the App Store, Nanni AI: Baby Cry Translator on Google Play) is the iOS, Android and Apple Watch app of Ubenwa Intelligence Solutions. From a few seconds of crying it returns the most likely reason plus soothing tips; alongside it bundles SleepGenie nap-time prediction, a sleep, feed and diaper tracker with voice entry, a CDC-based milestone log and a cartoon look-alike generator (App Store description).

Its standouts: the developer says it builds on “years of clinical studies on baby cries in partnership with pediatric hospitals”; ubenwa.ai cites a cry database built with pediatric hospitals on three continents. US App Store 4.70 (339); 100K+ downloads on Google Play. Other ratings: Google Play 3.6 (about 1,170), Turkish App Store 3.67 from only 3 ratings. Price: at the time of checking the App Store listed Full access at $9.99, an Annual Premium Membership at $49.99 and Nanni Premium at $119.99, plus consumable “Hearts” and “Tokens”; nanni.ai says “All of this for free”. The developer's claim: no percentage; “backed by in-depth scientific research” (nanni.ai).

Why people look for an alternative

Only reasons the store listings and official pages support:

There are reasons to stay too

Apple Watch support, nap-time prediction, voice-entry logging and the milestone log are reasons to stay; Agubu has none of them, and we say so plainly below.

How Agubu differs

Agubu differs from Nanni AI in three places. First, language: Turkish and English, app and website. Second, where the sound goes: the microphone listens for 8 seconds, the audio stays in memory, is never written to disk and is deleted when analysis ends; no account, server or analytics, and no research programme fed by your use. Third, where the reason comes from: the on-device model only checks that the sound is a cry; likely reasons are ranked from context (last feed, time awake, last diaper, age, time of day), presented in three confidence tiers, and when it is unsure it says so.

We also say what we measured: on our own data the reason cannot be reliably read from the sound, and the numbers, mistakes included, are on the Methodology page. No percentage claim. The free tier is permanent and committed to in our terms: 3 analyses a day with the full result, unlimited logging (sleep, nursing, bottle, diaper), the last 7 days of history, 8 soothing sounds with a timer, safety content. Premium unlocks unlimited analyses, 8 more sounds, the 4-layer mixer, unlimited history and the 30-day doctor report. iPhone (iOS 15.0 or later) and Android.

What Agubu does not have: an Apple Watch app, voice entry, a milestone log, multi-baby profiles or caregiver sharing. Instead of nap prediction it has age-based wake windows, a simpler tool. We launched on 31 August 2026 and have no ratings yet. Details: cry analysis and tracking.

Other options

ChatterBaby

The completely free app of UCLA Health's research group; iOS and Android. Three reasons (hungry, fussy, pain), a candid listing; recordings are stored on a research server under a consent form; English only; no care log. US App Store 3.94 (1,385). Details: ChatterBaby alternative.

Cry Translator Baby Assistant (AYA)

48 languages including Turkish, AI chat, sounds, a feeding and diaper tracker, growth and milestone tracking; US App Store 4.73 (612), Google Play 4.4 (about 3,730). Recordings are processed on the developer's side; ads on Android; many weekly subscriptions. The developer states “up to 96.36%” with a footnote that it comes from internal tests. Details: Cry Translator Baby Assistant alternative.

AI Baby Cry Analyzer (Gowalk)

iOS only; a full care journal, caregiver sharing and export; the cry analysis is optional and uploads the clip with consent. The listing describes results as “uncertain possibilities”. US App Store 4.6 (150); no Turkish; subscriptions from $3.99 a week at the time of checking. The closest option for a Nanni AI user who wants a milestone log and caregiver sharing.

Switching

Your sleep, feed and diaper records in Nanni AI do not carry over to Agubu; Agubu has no feature for importing data from other apps. Logging starts fresh, and from day one the Today screen and the age-based wake window work; the 14-day rhythm map fills in over the first two weeks.

What you lose: Apple Watch, voice entry, nap prediction, the milestone log. What you gain: a Turkish interface, on-device and ad-free analysis, context and confidence tiers, a permanent free tier, and an app that feeds no research programme. Your records stay on the phone; you can delete everything under Settings → Your data. The only thing that leaves the phone is the 30-day doctor-report PDF in Premium.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nanni AI free?

Partly. The App Store description presents the tracker as free; the store page listed purchases from $9.99 to $119.99 plus consumable “Hearts” and “Tokens” at the time of checking. nanni.ai says everything is free. We could not confirm the free analysis limit from the official pages.

Is Nanni AI available in Turkish?

No. The App Store language list shows English only, and the app has 3 ratings in the Turkish App Store. Agubu is in Turkish and English.

How accurate is Nanni AI?

The official pages give no percentage for the consumer app; nanni.ai says it is “backed by in-depth scientific research”. Some figures reported in the press refer to Ubenwa's clinical research, and we could not verify them against a primary source. The research in general shows that the sound of a cry does not reliably carry the reason.

Does Nanni AI work on Apple Watch?

Yes; according to the App Store description, cry results are available on Apple Watch. Agubu has no Apple Watch app; on iOS it has a home-screen widget and a lock-screen timer for sleep and nursing sessions.
